End Citizens United // Let America Vote today endorsed Representative Jimmy Gomez for Congress in California’s 34th Congressional District. As part of the endorsement, Gomez unveiled a comprehensive reform agenda aimed at getting Big Money out of politics, strengthening ethics rules, and protecting the freedom to vote.

Representative Gomez’s Democracy Reform Agenda

• Stop Big Corporations and Special Interests from Buying Political Influence:
• Gomez is refusing to accept money from corporate PACs and will work to pass legislation that bans corporate PACs.
• Gomez will champion a constitutional amendment to overturn Citizens United.
• Gomez will continue to fight to end dark money in our political system by passing the DISCLOSE Act, just like he did in the California legislature.

• Strengthen Ethics Rules for Lawmakers:
• Gomez will fight to close the revolving door between Capitol Hill and K Street once and for all.
• Gomez will fight to ban members of Congress from actively trading individual stocks to prevent insider trading and self-dealing.
• Gomez will work to ban congressional offices from using taxpayer dollars for first class travel for lawmakers.
• Protect the Freedom to Vote:
• Gomez will fight to pass the Freedom to Vote Act to protect access to the ballot, stop partisan gerrymandering, and ensure elections are safe, secure, and accessible.
• Gomez will fight to pass the John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act to restore the 1965 Voting Rights Act to its full strength and stop voter suppression in its tracks.
